5 Easy Things to Declutter Right Now (No Guilt Required)
Decluttering doesn’t have to mean diving into emotional territory or pulling apart your entire home. Inspired by The Washington Post’s recent article, “21 Things You Can Declutter Right Now,” we’ve picked five of the easiest, decision-free items to let go of — no stress, no guilt, just instant relief.
This is what we call decision-free decluttering — and it’s one of the most effective ways to build momentum and clear space, both physically and mentally.

1. Expired Food (Yes, even that spice you forgot existed)
Start in the pantry, fridge, or freezer. Toss anything expired, stale, or questionable — especially that half-used dressing or old container of paprika from 2019.
Pro Tip: Don’t skip the freezer. It’s probably hiding a few forgotten surprises.

2. Takeout Clutter + Free Swag
Sauce packets, plastic utensils, takeout menus… gone. You’re not going to use them, and they’re eating up drawer space.
Same goes for branded freebies like tote bags, water bottles, or bandanas you picked up at an event and forgot about. If it was free and unused, it’s just clutter in disguise.

3. Orphaned Socks & Worn-Out Workout Gear
Still hoping the missing sock will turn up? Let’s be real — it’s not coming back. And if your old gym gear is stretched out or stained and hasn’t seen action since pre-2020… it’s time to part ways.
Let. It. Go.

4. Decluttering Isn’t Just Physical — It’s Mental
Clutter creates mental load. Every object can trigger questions: Do I need this? Should I keep it? Will I use it again? That’s called decision fatigue, and it’s why decluttering can feel so exhausting.
Start small, build momentum, and you’ll make space — not just in your home, but in your head.

5. Spotless Quiz Coming Soon
We’re working on something special — a quiz to help you figure out exactly where to start and how to stay on track. Want first dibs when it launches? Follow us on Instagram @spotlessorganization or drop us a note through our contact form.
